We want to apply and create more sustainable approaches to oral health as a means for wellness and better healthcare access.
Lotus Roots (蓮藥基金会) is an international non-profit founded in 2023 by Timmy Wang, dedicated to uplifting individuals through education, dental care, and community support.
Inspired by his great-grandmother's belief that our purpose is to offer hope and relief to those in need, Timmy committed to ensuring everyone can live with dignity, free from preventable suffering, and with the opportunity to thrive.
While teaching English in Hualien, Taiwan, Timmy met a boy too embarrassed to participate due to a dental condition that affected his speech. Determined to help, Timmy encouraged him to build confidence. By the end of camp, the boy proudly won first place in a speech competition.
This experience solidified Timmy's belief that a smile reflects confidence, happiness, and well-being. After returning from Taiwan, Timmy and seven other students determined to make a difference by helping children feel good about themselves through a “dental-first” approach, established the first branch in Tenafly. By addressing dental health challenges and empowering individuals to thrive, children are more likely to succeed in education, build strong relationships, and develop resilience.
Today, Lotus Roots has over 50 volunteers across three branches in New Jersey as well as three service centers across Taiwan. Determined to spread our mission as far and wide as possible, we welcome anyone around the world to join us.
Lotus Roots has four major commitment: humanism, financial relief, education, and medical research. Additionally, we are also devoted to: oral healthcare/hygiene and environmental protection.
Each month, Lotus Roots tries to hit at least three of our six commitments. Below are some of our current, past, and future projects.
